Ford recalls 145,000 faulty automobiles

ON October 11 the Ford Motor Company announced that it is recalling 145,000 faulty automobiles in 31 countries because of a defect in the car lock mechanism and gears.

Most of the recalled automobiles are one of two car models; the 2005 Five Hundred and Montego. Another is the Freestar van which was made in 2006. The side-door lock mechanism is not entirely waterproof. The lock system may freeze and cease to function if it comes into contact with water in cold conditions.

Ford will also recall more than 6,000 Escape Hybrid automobiles in which the transmission shafts are easily broken.
