Jordanian King Abdullah II on Wednesday warned the Palestinians of sliding towards civil war, urging them to put aside their internal disputes to confront challenges, the Jordan's official news agency Petra reported.
Abdullah said the Palestinian aspiration of statehood could vanish within months unless they would curb sliding towards civil war.
The king also called on the Arabs to support the Palestinians, saying, "All of us have to support the Palestinians and urge them to realize that it is not the time for fighting."
Arabs should be close to the negotiating table between the Palestinians and Israelis, he said, pointing out that there is a great opportunity in the peace plan, but there is also a great danger in losing it, "particularly if a civil war would erupt."
