Visiting Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled Bin Ahmed al-Thani said Wednesday that there is a historical opportunity to revive the Mideast peace process that must be based on the total Madrid reference and to work on all tracks, the official SANA news agency reported.
The minister made the remarks after meeting with President Bashar al-Assad, stressing that the importance to make the peace process a comprehensive one which should include all tracks.
"We have a historical opportunity to revive this process and it must be based on the total Madrid reference and to work on all tracks ...this is the only way to realize peace," said the Bahraini Minister.
"If we looked to the positive thing, then there is a group inside Israel that wants peace and there are inclinations we heard via positive talks even from senior Israeli officials toward peace, " he added.
Sheikh Khaled depicted Syria as "an important, effective and main country" which plays a very important and vital role to make the peace process a success.
During his talks with Assad, Sheikh Khaled delivered a message from the Bahraini King Hamad Ben Issa al-Khalifa to the president on situations in the region and bilateral relations between the two countries, SANA said.
The two sides also discussed the outcome of the Bahraini minister's recent visit to the occupied Palestinian territories.
