China's airlines to carry 270 mln passengers in 2010: CAAC official

China's airlines will carry an estimated carry 270 million passengers in 2010, with an average annual growth rate of 14.5 percent, said an official with the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC).

Wang Changshun, deputy director of CAAC, also forecast that the cargo turnover of China's airlines would increase by 14 percent annually to 50 billion ton-kilometers by 2010.

By then, China will have around 190 civil airports and 1,543 cargo aircraft.

Wang urged aviation safety departments to ensure reduce the risk of accidents and called for an accident rate of below 0.3 per-million-flight hours.
