Three U.S. marines killed in western Iraq

Three U.S. marines were killed on Monday in the volatile Anbar province in western Iraq, the U.S. military said on Wednesday.

"Three Marines assigned to 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division died Monday from enemy action while operating in Al Anbar Province, " the military said in a statement.

About 2,740 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U. S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media count.
