Two militants were killed and three others including an Afghan soldier were wounded as they came in contact in Afghanistan's southern Zabul province, police said Tuesday.
"The incident took place when Taliban militias opened fire on a convoy of Afghanistan National Army (ANA) in Khak-e-Afghan district Monday destroying a vehicle and wounding a soldier. Troops returned fire and killed two militants," provincial police chief Noor Mohammad Paktin told Xinhua.
Two more Taliban militias were wounded in the fire exchange, he added.
Skirmishes between militants and security forces have claimed the lives of more than 2,400 people mostly rebels according to officials since beginning this year in Afghanistan.
