Guangdong is a popular investment location for Hong Kong's service industry and more than 40 percent of firms opened by Hong Kong service suppliers in the Chinese mainland are in the province, said a Hong Kong official Monday.
Speaking at the 2006 CEPA (or Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement) Seminar on Services, Hong Kong's permanent secretary for commerce, industry and technology, Yvonne Choi, said there has been very close economic and trade ties between Hong Kong and Guangdong.
She said she hopes the two sides will continue to intensify cooperation on all fronts for the full implementation of CEPA.
Hong Kong's service industry has taken the neighboring Guangdong province as an ideal business place because of its strategic location, low cost and especially the benefits from CEPA.
The seminar attracted more than 200 Hong Kong business people.
