China to become one of world's leading nations in productivity growth

вторник, 10 октября 2006 04:10:03

China will be one of the world's leading nations in terms of productivity growth over the next two decades, said Jean Claude Lauzon, Chairman of the World Confederation of Productivity Science (WCPS).

Speaking ahead of the 14th World Productivity Congress (WPC) in Shenyang, Lauzon told Xinhua that China, with the many advantages it has in terms of human resources and land mass, would eventually become a world leader.

China has attracted more and more foreign direct investment, and many multinationals have built factories and research and development centers across China, which has made possible the application and invention of new technologies, said Lauzon.

The world's productivity would be improved enormously by inventions made by the Chinese, he said, particularly if China could invent methods that were capable of reducing pollution and slashing energy consumption.

The WPC is the major event of the World Confederation of Productivity Science and is held every two years. It started on Monday with a theme of "pursuing sustainable development of productivity" and is being jointly hosted by WCPS, Chinese Association of Productivity Science and the city government of Shenyang.
