The 15th Asian Games Torch Relay will begin with a magic ceremony in Doha of Qatar, Qatar National Olympic Committee said on its website.
It said that the Doha 2006 Torch, to be carried by each of the 3,500 torch bearers, will signify the pride and friendship and reflect the dignity and ambitions of Qatar, the host nation of the Games.
After the cauldron is lit, in the sound of music and spectacular fireworks, 45 young men will light lanterns and place it on 45 tables representing the 45 countries and regions competing in the Games.
Igniting in Qatar and due to return, the torch will have a journey covering India, South Korea, the Philippines, Japan, China, Macao and Hong Kong of China, Indonesia, Thailand, Iran, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain.
Traveling over 50,000 kilometers across land, sea and air and by train, bicycle, camel, horse, tram, boat as well as ferry in 55 days, the torch relay will be the longest in the history of the Asian Games, said the report.
The Doha 2006 Torch is designed and inspired by the curvaceous horns of the of Qatar's national animal, the Arabian Oryx who is also the Games mascot "Orry".
On Dec.1, 2006, the torch will enter the Khalifa Stadium of Doha to officially announce the start of the 15th Asian Games.
