Many Afghans use Pakistani currency in transaction

Afghans in the central Ghazni province use the Pakistani national currency the Rupee in their daily transactions, a Kabul-based newspaper reported Tuesday.

"In some provinces of Afghanistan including Ghazni, the locals use Pakistani rupee in transactions," daily Afghanistan writes.

From egg to bus fare and from ghee to almond, according to the daily, is sold and transacted with rupees in Ghazni province bazaars.

Not only in Ghazni, even in the capital city of Kabul using foreign currencies particularly the Pakistani rupees and the U.S. dollars are common.

Though the Afghan government has been encouraging people to use the Afghanistan's national currency the Afghani in transaction, the locals prefer hard currencies in their daily businesses.
