October 8, 2006, is the 50th anniversary of China's space program, which is responsible for many developments in the fields of space technology and space science.

China's space program has been very successful, playing a role in the development of China's atomic bomb, hydrogen bomb and satellite, which has fulfilled the mission to secure the state and promote the scientific development of China, an official said.

The official also said China has gradually established an innovative space management system over the last 50 years. The Changzheng series rockets have been in use since October 1996, and all 48 trial launches have been successful.

China has successfully launched four unmanned spacecrafts and two manned spacecrafts, which makes it the world's third country to explore space.

China has plans to explore the moon, which will push China's space program to a new level.
