The anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International (TI) has improved Nigeria's position in its rating.
According to Annual Corruption Perceptions Index the TI released on Monday, Nigeria stands on the 142nd position among 163 nations that were studied by the TI.
In 2003, Nigeria was rated second position from the bottom of the ladder and moved a step up the following year. In 2005, Nigeria was rated the 6th most corrupt nation in the world.
The TI scored Nigeria 2.2 marks out of 10. The index score relates to perceptions of the degree of corruption ranges between zero, which is highly corrupt, and 10, which is very clean.
