New ethylene project launched

Zhenhai Petroleum Refinery and Chemistry Corporation, under China Petroleum Chemistry Company, launched a new ethylene project yesterday.

Twenty-two billion yuan has been invested in the project, which will have the capacity to produce one million tons of ethylene a year.

Ethylene is a product obtained from petroleum and natural gas and used in the manufacture of many other chemicals.

By the end of this year, the corporation combined crude oil production capacity will reach as much as 20 million tons annually.
