9,007 people killed in 53,173 accidents in China this October: safety superviser

China's safety supervisor said on Monday on its website that 9,007 people were killed in 53,173 accidents nationwide in October.

The death toll was down 9.7 percent, or 964 less compared with October last year, and the accidents dropped by 9.8 percent, or 5,769 less than October 2005, according to the State Administration of Work Safety.
