Hungary's main opposition Fidesz party staged a torchlight march on Saturday, marking the 50th anniversary of the day Hungary's anti-Soviet revolt was crushed.
The demonstration was led by Fidesz Chairman Viktor Orban and other senior officials of the party, who carried a banner reading "The truth shall make you free."
The march, joined by about 50,000 people, started from Budapest's House of Terror Museum, and demonstrators marched along the broad tree-lined residential Andrassy Boulevard.
The destination of the march was at Astoria crossroads, in downtown of Budapest, where the party held a rally last month, in which violent anti-government protesters clashed with police. Nearly 170 people were injured and more than 130 arrested.
