Two Iraqis were killed and 28 others wounded in two separate bomb attacks in Baghdad on Thursday morning, Iraqi police said.

"A bomb went off at 6:30 a.m. (0330 GMT) in the Taiyaran Square in Bab al-Sharji area in central Baghdad, where dozens of workers were waiting for daylong jobs," a well-informed source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast wounded 20 workers, who had been evacuated to nearby hospital, the source said.

In another incident, a car bomb detonated at around 8:00 a.m. ( 0500 GMT) in the Hurriyah neighborhood in northeastern Baghdad, killing two people and wounding eight others, the source added.

Violence rages on in Iraq as car bombings, roadside bombs and assassination cause dozens of civilian casualties daily.
