Dutch women can let their daughters be preventively vaccinated against cervical cancer as from Thursday, Dutch media reported on Thursday.
Also women up to 26 years of age can let themselves be vaccinated. The vaccine, with the name Gardasil, prevents the transfer of the human papilloma virus (HPV), which can cause tumors.
Each year approximately two hundred women die in the Netherlands from cervical cancer.
The European Union approved the vaccine in September.
