The automatic system to be used in Venezuela's Dec. 3 presidential elections have a 99.1 percent proven effectiveness, an electoral official said on Wednesday.
"The effectiveness of the information systems has improved notably due to a series of tests and auditing in which all the nation has participated," Janeth Hernandez, vice president of the National Electoral Council, told Venezuela Television.
Hernandez said that at the start of the process, the voting machines had a 4.5 percent margin of error, which had been reduced to 0.9 to zero percent.
"As more people take part in the review process, we will achieve absolute transparency in these elections," she said.
