Macao's government accumulated surplus reached 20.75 billion patacas (2.59 billion U.S. dollars) in 2005, a rise against the previous year's 13.74 billion patacas (1.72 billion U.S. dollars), local media reported Wednesday.
The Macao Post Daily quoted Francis Tam Pak Yuen, Secretary for Economy and Finance, as saying that the government income from the region's renowned gaming industry reached 17.19 billion patacas (2.15 billion U.S. dollars) in 2005.
The government spent 4.33 billion patacas (541 million U.S. dollars) on its investment and development expenditure plan in the year, the official was cited.
