Explosives planted by unknown persons exploded Wednesday night inside the lawn of Ayyub park in Rawalpindi, the twin city of the capital city Islamabad, local TV channel reported Thursday morning quoting official statements. An official statement said the explosion occurred at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday and caused no damage, and bomb disposal squad has gathered samples of explosives from the spot for laboratory test, the Geo Television reported.
Investigation into the bombing is underway and security personnel in the park are conducting their own search as to how explosives got into the park, according to Geo TV.
Reports said the bombing spot is not far away from the Pakistani army chief house, where Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf are living.
