Russian FM in Poland for talks on energy, cultural cooperation
Russian Foreign Minister Serghei Lavrov arrived here Wednesday for talks on cooperation in areas ranging from energy to culture, according to the PAP news agency.
His Polish counterpart Anna Fotyga was quoted as saying she expected "more openness" in talks with Russia's top diplomat during his two-day visit.
Lavrov is scheduled to meet with Polish President Lech Kaczynski, Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski and Fotyga on Thursday.
"This meeting is to serve the attainment of certain breakthroughs of a political nature," Fotyga said, adding that her talks with Lavrov would cover energy, anti-terrorism, Afghanistan and Polish-Russian cultural exchanges.
Lavrov told journalists in Moscow on Tuesday that Russia was interested in developing its relations with Poland. Both sides have a number of things to discuss.
"We will focus our attention above all on our bilateral economic, energy and cultural cooperation," Lavrov said.
