The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has said it is wrong for the referees officiating the lower division league to boycott officiating of matches as a way of pressing for their payment.
Zambia Daily Mail Wednesday quoted FAZ president Teddy Mulonga as saying here Tuesday that the referees must follow the provisions within their constitution when demanding for their dues instead of boycotting.
The Referees Association of Zambia (RAZ) is an affiliation of FAZ and urged the referees to desist from issuing press statements before they could exhaust the written procedure.
"I'm not going to allow anarchy in the running of soccer in Zambia. I appeal to the referees to revisit their decision to boycott matches," he said. The referees began their boycott on September 10 demanding payment of their 14 weeks' allowances.
