Kuwait will host a preparatory meeting on Oct. 31 for developing an international compact concerning Iraq's reconstruction, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) said Friday.
In a statement, KFAED noted that the preparatory meeting would be attended by high ranking officials and senior figures representing 22 states, including Kuwait, Iraq and the United States, as well as officials from the United Nations.
The meeting would discuss the procedures to develop an international compact to guarantee that reconstruction efforts in Iraq would continue, said KFAED.
Labeled as "The International Compact" by the Iraqi government, the meeting aims at reinforcing cooperation between Iraq and the international community for the sake of strengthening economic, social and political growth in the Mideast country, KFAED added.
The Kuwaiti fund has granted the Iraq 60 million U.S. dollars and given easy loans of 450 million dollars to finance Iraq's sectors of education and health and several projects in the war- torn country.
