The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that a total of 56,632 cases of cholera, including 2, 314 deaths, have been reported in 16 out of the 18 provinces in Angola, since the beginning of the outbreak on Feb. 13, 2006.
According to a press notice published by the WHO on Thursday here, since the release of its last report on Sept. 27, a total of 1,942 new cases and 89 deaths have occurred country wide and Lunda Sul and Moxico are the two provinces without cholera cases.
This year's outbreak of the water-borne disease in Angola has been acknowledged by international relief organizations to be the country's worst since independence over three decades ago.
