United Nations (UN) agencies in Nepal have started providing assistance to the internally displaced people (IDP) due to conflict to help them returning back to their home, local media on Friday.
The UN agencies have started the assistance program from eastern Biratnagar and western Nepalgunj cities, some 600 km far from Kathmandu each, Kantipur F.M, leading privately run radio reported.
As per the program, the UN will provide monitoring, consultancy, training and legal assistance as well as some necessary daily consumer goods for their survival.
"We started this program to speed up process of returning back the IDPs to their original homes," said Mathew Kahane, UN residence representatives for Nepal.
"We will start this program in western Pokhara town and far western Dadeldhura district too," Kahane said.
He also made it clear that the UN would ensure dwellings and daily consumer goods to the displaced communities showing eagerness for returning back to their homes.
The UN agencies including United Nations Development Program, Humanitarian Assistance Office, Save the Children Fund, Refugees Commission, World Food Program and other international humanitarian bodies including International Red Cross have gone for partnership to help the IDPs.
