The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) accepted on Tuesday the proposal that there will be a unified British volleyball team for the 2012 Olympic Games, said the spokesman of FIVB.
Paul O'Neil, spokesman of the world volleyball governing body, said that the FIVB has accepted the request of the English, Scottish and Northern Ireland National Federations to recognize the British Volleyball Federation for the purpose of having a unified team for the 2012 Olympic Games.
"There will be a British team in the international events from 2007, meanwhile the three federations can take part in the continent events." said O'Neil.
"More strictly saying, there will be four federations, including English, Scottish, Northern Ireland and Wales, but the Wales Volleyball Federation didn't send delegates to the World Congress." added O'Neil.
The FIVB accepted the proposal on its 30th World Congress, the FIVB's supreme decision-making body, which is held in October 23-25.
