Pakistan celebrates Eid through country

Pakistan Wednesday celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr throughout the country with enthusiasm and religious fervor.

Eid prayers offered in mosques and at open places across the country. In their sermons, the Ulema and Khateebs highlighted significance of the day and prayed for the solidarity of the country and well being of its people, according to Geo TV reported.

Millions of people have left the cities for their native villages and towns to be with their near and dear ones on the happy occasion.

Law enforcement agencies have made foolproof security measures in the country to ensure law and order during the Eid days. Special contingents have been deputed at all important and sensitive points to keep vigil and avert any untoward incident.

The government has deployed 9,000 police in Lahore, where security cameras being used to monitor gatherings for the festival. Police were also on alert in Islamabad, and thousands more were on guard in other major cities, including Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta.
