The refined oil pipeline project in west China, one of the country's major national engineering projects, is completed and has gone into operation, according to a report on October 24.
So far, it is the longest oil pipeline in China with the biggest designed flowing capacity and the highest pressure scale, With a total input of 15 billion Yuan (some 1.88 billion US dollars), the pipeline starts from Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, to the west and ends in Lanzhou, capital of northeastern Gansu province, to the east. The pipeline project is composed of two parts, namely, the 1,842 km trunk refined oil pipeline and 1,562 km trunk crude oil pipeline.
This project represents a major measure China has taken in the national energy strategy and strategy for the development of its western region.
