Chicago marathon winner Robert Cheruiyot from Kenya left the hospital on Tuesday after spending two nights with a head concussion suffered on Sunday while losing his footing at the the finish line.
Cheruiyot, who overcame fellow Kenyan Daniel Njenga by a tiny cushion of five seconds to win with two hours seven minutes and 35 seconds, lay on his back for several minutes before being taken to hospital in Sunday's competition.
Tuesday afternoon, he was presented with a trophy and a temporary medal with the event's logo.
Cheruiyot usually trains lightly for about a month after a race, and should have plenty of time to prepare for his next major event, the 2007 Boston Marathon.
