Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said Nepal has attempted to give a new model in conflict resolution in the world, the National News Agency RSS reported on Wednesday.
According to the RSS, Koirala who arrived in Biratnagar, some 400 km east of Kathmandu, for a few days' rest at his home town Tuesday afternoon, made this remark while talking to journalists briefly at his own residence.
Expressing his determination that lasting peace will be established in the country with the success of the peace talks between the government and the guerrillas even though it takes time, the Prime Minister urged all to observe patience for it.
The sooner the peace talks end, the sooner will be the formation of the interim government and equally sooner the Constituent Assembly elections will be declared, he said.
Peace is the first priority of the nation and the people, Koirala said, adding "My personal desire is also to hold the Constituent Assembly elections sooner and to transform the present unrest and terrific situation into a sustainable peace."
The Constituent Assembly is an elected body, like parliament, of elected people's representatives to formulate the new constitution.
