Reconstruction process in Pakistani quake-hit areas in full swing: report
Life in Pakistani quake-hit areas has returned to normal and almost all the affectees have moved back to their ancestral places as the reconstruction process in quake-hit Pakistan-controlled Kashmir is in full swing, the state- run Associated Press of Pakistan reported Wednesday.
Although life is getting back to normal in the affected areas, the people living in tents and temporary shelters are actively engaged in the reconstruction of their homes with the full assistance and guidance of government agencies, said the APP report.
Authorities have recently allowed the people to reconstruct their homes in line with the anti-quake design approved by Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA), it said.
The process of disbursement of the compensatory amount among the quake affectees in all quake-stricken districts in Pakistan- controlled Kashmir is already underway, APP reported.
On Oct. 8, 2005, a disastrous earthquake measuring 7.6 on international Richter scale hit northern Pakistan, leaving over 70, 000 people dead and 3.3 million homeless in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir and Pakistani North West Frontier Province.
