China to establish its own applied color system

The China Textile Information Center (CTIC) is to cooperate with ColorVision, a famous American company dealing in color management solutions, to do research on the digitalization of color, according to a report released on October 22.

CTIC has taken responsible for the project on behalf of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

In the past, design, production and color stock was subjective in China, which meant the process of development was lengthy and expensive. To get around this, an effective international color "language" is necessary. The aim of the project is to establish and promote China's appliance color system and ensure it is compatible with international standards.

It is believed this system has been used as a standard in examinations of China's textile products. The terylene color chart, its first product, was recently launched on the market.
