French navy officer dies of road accident in Cambodia

A French navy officer died on Saturday after the motorbike he drove hit a light post in Cambodia's travel destination Sihanoukville, police told Xinhua by phone on Sunday.

Tin Bunnath, deputy police chief of Sihanoukville, said that Peduzzi Jean Noel, 22, hired the motorbike for leisure driving and died on the scene right after the unexpected accident at about 01: 00 a.m.

His body was offered to the French side, he added.

Noel used to serve the French naval force of Le Var Warship, which landed on Sihanoukville from Oct. 18 to 25 on a goodwill visit to exchange experience with Cambodian naval force.
