Three U.S. marines killed Saturday in the volatile Anbar province, the U.S. military said on Sunday.
"Three Marines assigned to Multinational Force-West died from enemy action while operating in al Anbar Province on Oct. 21," the military said in a statement, a copy of which obtained by Xinhua.
The statement provide no further details about the incident.
The latest death was part of a surge in U.S. fatalities in October, bringing to about 2,785 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.
