Cai/Fu enter China Open badminton men's doubles final

China's world champions Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng outlasted Hadiyanto Luluk and Yulianto Alvent from Indonesia 18-21, 21-18 and 21-13 in the men's doubles semifinals of the China Open badminton championships in Guangzhou on Saturday.

The Indonesians played aggressively to lead the first set and eventually won it 21-18. However, Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng found back to keep the lead in the second and won the set 21-18.

In the decider, the world champions lived up to their reputation by scoring their chances while the Indonesian kept making enforced errors. And the Chinese then won the third set 21-13 breezily.

Cai Yun and Fu Hai Feng will play Kido Markis and Setla Wan Hendra from Indonesia in the final on Sunday, who edged Eriksen Jens and Lundgaard Hansen Martin from Denmark in straight sets 21-15, 21-14.

In women's doubles semifinals, Zhang Dan and Zhao Tingting were thrashed by Wei Yili and Zhang Yawen 15-21, 21-17, 16-21 who will meet Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen in the final.

Yang and Zhang defeated Chien Yu Chin and Cheng Wen Hsing from Chinese Taipei 21-15, 17-21, 21-16.

In the mixed doubles semifinals, Xu Chen and Zhao Tingting ousted fellow Chinese Zhang Jun and Gao Ling 21-17, 21-19, and will meet Xie Zhongbo and Zhang Yawen in the final.

Xie and Zhang beat their compatriots He Hanbin and Yu Yang 21-16, 21-14 in the other semifinal.
