Six members of the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) surrendered to Turkish security forces in southeastern Turkey on Saturday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
Six PKK militants fleeing from the PKK organization proceeded from Iraq to Turkey and surrendered to the Turkish security forces in Silopi town of Sirnak province, Anatolia reported.
Meanwhile, two people were detained in Dogubeyazit town of the eastern Agri province for aiding and abetting the terrorist organization, the report said.
The PKK announced a unilateral ceasefire as of Oct. 1, saying it wants to pave the way for a peaceful resolution of its conflict with the government, which, however, was interpreted as a tactic in the face of the Turkish authorities' increasing calls for smashing the group with the U.S. and Iraq.
The group has launched an armed campaign for an ethnic homeland in the mainly Kurdish southeastern Turkey in 1984, sparking decades of strife that has claimed more than 30,000 lives.
