Indian security forces in India- controlled Kashmir gunned down seven militants in three incidents Saturday, the Indo-Asian News Service reported.
An Indian Army spokesman said three militants were killed in a shootout during a cordon and search operation in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.
"Security forces on specific information launched a search operation in Nagrin Bahak village early today. Militants hiding in the village opened fire, and in the fierce encounter that followed three militants were killed," the spokesman said.
Two other militants were killed near the Line of Control (LoC) when security forces spotted a group of militants trying to cross the Line of Control in Baramulla district.
In the third incident, the police shot dead two Hizb-ul- Mujahadeen militants in Gandoh area, about 200 km northeast from Jammu, the winter capital of the region.
Half a dozen militants were involved in the firefight.
