Pakistan has lodged a strong protest with India over the illegal detention and manhandling of Mohammad Farooq, a driver of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi by the Indian security personnel, the Pakistani foreign office said in a statement Saturday.
"The harassment of the Pakistani official is a violation of international conventions as well as the diplomatic norms," the statement said.
The statement, however, did not give any further details as to when the incident happened.
Pakistan and India reportedly detain and harass each other's embassy officials time and again.
The two countries expelled each other's diplomats in August this year on suspected involvement in spying.
Relations between the two countries have been severely strained after the deadly train bombings in Mumbai in July, in which 207 people were killed and more than 700 others wounded.
India has blamed the Indian Muslim militants with support from Pakistani terrorists and Pakistani intelligence agents for the attack, a charge Pakistan has denied.
On Oct. 17, the two countries have agreed to revive the composite dialogue process in mid-November following the Mumbai blasts.
