A top leader of the militant group Lashker-e-Taiba was killed early Friday morning in India- controlled Kashmir, Indo-Asian News Service reported.
The local police said that Shabir Ahmad Sheikh was gunned down around 4 a.m. Friday in the forests of Doda district in the region.
The police believed he had been involved in a series of terrorist activities in the area.
Lashker-e-Taiba was accused by Indian police and intelligence agencies of masterminding and executing several terrorist attacks in India, including serial blasts in Mumbai and Delhi.
