S. Korean, Japanese FMs urge DPRK not to conduct new nuclear tests

South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon and his Japanese counterpart Taro Aso on Friday appealed to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) not to worsen the situation by conducting additional nuclear tests.

During their meeting Friday morning, the two FMs confirmed that DPRK's nuclear weapons can not be allowed under any circumstances, reported the South Korea's Yonhap News Agency.

They agreed in principle on the need for a faithful implementation of the UN Security Council resolution on DPRK's nuclear test and urged the DPRK to make "a strategic decision," it said.

Ban, Aso and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice held a meeting in Seoul Thursday night to fine-tune their stance on the implementation of the UN Security Council's Resolution 1718 against the DPRK.

Rice, who arrived in Seoul on Thursday, will leave for Beijing on Friday to continue her three-nation Asian tour that took her to Japan, South Korea and China.
