The carcass of a female rhino was found in the Chitwan National Park in central Nepal, the National News Agency RSS reported on Friday.
According to the administration of the park, some 100 km west of Kathmandu, the poachers made off with horn of the 12-year old rhino after having killed it Wednesday night.
So far, five one-horned rhinos have been killed by poachers in the park, a 175-square km world heritage site, which houses most of Nepal's endangered one-horned Asiatic rhinos, since the start of the current fiscal year in mid-July.
Following increase in rhino poaching cases, a committee has been formed at local level to conserve this rare species. In this connection various programs have been launched, the RSS reported.
