The United States Ambassador to Nepal James F Moriarty has said he is hopeful that the guerrillas will lay down their arms before joining mainstream politics, a popular FM radio station reported Friday.
"We obviously hope that the peace process would succeed and the guerrillas would give up their weapons before joining mainstream politics," Moriarty was quoted as saying by Kantipur FM, a 24 hours news and entertainment radio station.
He said this while talking with reporters upon his arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport of Kathmandu Thursday following his visit to the U.S. where he is said to have discussed about the latest developments in Nepal to senior U.S. government officials.
