Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski said on Thursday that a debate on Polish presence in Iraq would be "premature" at this time, the PAP news agency reported.
Kaczynski made the remarks in response to an announcement of a plan to lodge a motion calling for a parliamentary debate on the influence of Iraq war on the civilian population.
Speaking of the possible result of the debate, Polish Vice Prime Minister and LPR leader Roman Giertych said it could lead to a decision to withdraw Polish soldiers from Iraq.
Kaczynski stressed that withdrawing Polish troops from Iraq could not be "sudden," adding it should be a well thought political decision.
Poland has about 900 troops stationed in Iraq. President Lech Kaczynski said in February that Polish troops could stay in Iraq until 2007.
