Finland approves immigration policy program
The Finnish government on Thursday approved an immigration policy program, which is aimed at expanding its labor force by promoting the immigration of more workers to Finland in the near future.
As the population ages over the coming years, the labor supply in Finland will become a problem more rapidly than in many other European countries.
Another aim of the program is to facilitate the immigration of students and researchers, with a particular focus on the bringing in of appropriate migrants from outside the European Union (EU).
The program also emphasizes the drawcards of Finland, which include an attractive environment, stability and safety, and effective public services.
Other key aims of the program include developing the immigrant integration system and improving ethnic relations to promote the development of a multicultural and non-discriminatory society.
