The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has developed a new kind of laser processing machine which can engrave complicated patterns on the surfaces of solid materials, according to the official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA).
The processing machine, developed by the DPRK's Kim Chaek University of Technology, can function and fine tune its operations at temperatures of more than 1,000 degrees centigrade, with all its operations being computerized, said the report.
It takes only 15-30 minutes to complete a stone photo compared with the three hours that a traditional stone photo processing machine takes for the same task.
The new machine was "small and exquisite" weighing in at only 30 kilograms, said the KCNA.
It can "delicately engrave colorful patterns as well as photos on the surfaces of stone, glass, ceramic ware, plastic, wood, etc, " it said.
