Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday that Israel is a "fraud regime" that serves the interests of big powers and cannot survive, state television reported.
"The fraud regime was established by big powers to carry out all kinds of criminal acts to serve their interests," Ahmadinejad told a rally in the town of Islamshahr in southwestern Tehran.
"The Zionist regime is a fake and illegitimate regime that cannot survive," he said in the speech, broadcast live on the television.
Ahmadinejad's remarks came one day before the World Qods Day, a holiday designated by Iran's late supreme leader Ayatollah Ruholla Khomeini to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinians.
