Banking industry seriously imbalanced

Banking industry seriously imbalanced

четверг, 19 октября 2006 13:10:04

Tang Shuangning, Deputy Director of China's banking watchdog -- China Banking Regulatory Commission -- says China's banking industry has three major imbalances.

He made these remarks at a banking forum in Beijing on Monday.

He said that the first imbalance is in organizational development. While the large banks have been reformed and developed quickly, small and medium-sized banks have experienced little of either.

Tang said that regional development in banking is also imbalanced. While the banks in eastern China are developing very fast, banks in central, western and northeast China lag behind in reform and development.

The third imbalance is apparent between rural and urban banking development. While urban financial reforms happen fast, rural financial reform is very slow.
