Traditional treasures of the study, namely, the writing brush, ink stick, ink slab and a special-type Xuan paper, the essentials for traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting, have been applied to be included into the intangible cultural heritage of the world.
The "four treasures of the study" encompass top-quality Xuan paper and ink slab produced in Xuancheng city of east China's Anhui province, ace writing brush made in Huzhou city of eastern Zhejiang province, Duan ink slab of Zhaoqing city from south China's Guangdong province, and brand-name ink slab from Shexian county of Anhui province.
It is learned that personalities from the Xuan paper group of Xuancheng city and Hu Kaiwen Ink Slab Co. of Jixi County, both in Anhui province, have been in Beijing to partake a preparatory work meeting for the application of the "four treasures of the Chinese study" as the world's intangible cultural heritage.
