Police in Afghan capital Kabul have arrested five suspected terrorists from different parts of the city, a local independent newspaper reported Thursday.
"Police in its efforts to foil terrorist activities have taken into custody five men and recovered a number of evidence including membership cards of Taliban group and few hand grenades from their possession," daily Afghanistan quoted a senior police officer Ali Shah Paktiawal as saying.
Police would continue the efforts to nab further terrorists in the city, said Paktiawal.
The arrest of suspected terrorists is taking place in the wake of increasing suicide and bombing attacks in Afghan cities including Kabul.
A failed suicide attack in Kabul and another suicide attack in southern Kandahar province left at least three persons dead and six others wounded including a NATO soldier over the past couple of days.
Presidential spokesman Mohammad Karim Rahimi said Tuesday that security organs have thwarted several terrorist plans and thus reduced the number of casualties.
