Jordanian King Abdullah II on Wednesday reaffirmed the kingdom's preparedness to offer all forms of support to the Iraqi people to help them overcome difficulties.
The king made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi, who arrived here Tuesday for talks with senior Jordanian officials.
During the meeting, the king expressed deep concern about mounting violence in Iraq, calling for intensifying efforts to maintain unity of the Iraqi people.
He also called on the Iraqi people, regardless of their components, to unify ranks against attempts to interfere in Iraq's internal affairs and damage its stability and future.
He also expressed support to the reconciliation process taking place in Iraq.
Al-Hashimi, for his part, briefed the king on the latest developments in Iraq and expressed appreciation of Jordan's intensive efforts in Arab and international arenas to support the Iraqi people.
